Then you have to substitute the UI card (if its a non-flash) so that you get a functioning UI in order to install the new Web Driver. Every Apple "security" update kills the nVidia Web Drivers, which you then have to wait 24-48 hours for the fix for that. It is actually kind of inconvenient for "normal" machine functions. At some point, Apple will do something in OSX to get rid of them - currently running ElCap with just such a machine Cubix XPander and all-nVidia Titan Black (x3) with a 980Ti as the UI card. I am unsure how much further those 6-year-olds will go, though. And you will have to bump up to at least El Capitan for current and near-release software. Install a Nvidia Quadro M4000 (8gig) and use this later in an external thunderbolt PCIE box on whatever I upgrade to. Buy a second hand 5.1 and build it up using existing parts Buy a new Mac Pro (expensive and probably the long term goal) My thoughts for moving forward with or without this machine are: So far I have added a few SSD's, increased RAM to 32Gig and changed the graphics card. I too have a Mac Pro 3.1 and wondering what I am going to do moving forward. ![]()
